Royal Recreational Trails

Approx 16 km total.
Things to see: Covered Bridge, Riverside Park, and McCrae Museum.
Type of path: stone dust. Good for biking, jogging and hiking.

 

Guelph Lake Trails
Free!
Parking on shoulder of Victoria Rd south of Speed River OR enter the conservation area $5 admission for adults, $2.75 for youth. Approx 5 km. Connects to the Speed River trial.
Things to see: the Guelph Lake dam, Guelph Lake, wildlife.
Type of path: earth. Good for biking and hiking.

 

 

 

Ignatius Centre Trails

Things to see: gardens, orchards, wildlife
Type of path: earth. Good for hiking and cross-country skiing.

 

 

Elora Cataract Trail
Free!
Various parking lots along the trail. Begins at Gerrie Road in Elora, ends in Forks of the Credit Provincial Park in Cataract.
Approx. 47 km
Type of path: stone dust 3m wide.
Good for biking, hiking, jogging, cross-country skiing and horseback riding.

 

Kissing Bridge Trailway
Free!
Part of the Trans Canada trail. Begins at the north end of Guelph, runs to Millbank along an abandoned rail line.
Approx 16 km.
Things to see: Kissing Bridge in West Montrose (small side trail).
Type of path: stone dust. Good for hiking and biking.

 

 

Arboretum
Free!
Parking within Arboretum. Guided interpretative tours available for a fee.
Approx 5 km of trails
Things to see: birds, unusual trees, interpretive brochures available.
Type of path: earth and stone dust. Good for biking and hiking, cross-country skiing and jogging.

 

 

Canoeing & Kayaking
Canoes and kayaks can be rented from Speed River Paddling Inc. at the Boathouse on Gordon Street. Open Tuesday- Sunday from 10am until dusk, weather permitting.

 

 

Swimming
Outdoor swimming is available at Guelph Lake Conservation Area, Elora Conservation Area, Rockwood Conservation Area and the Elora Quarry. A day pass is $5 for age 15 and over and $2.75 for children 6-14. Children under 5 are free.


Guelph has an outdoor pool at Lyon Park which is open 10am -12 pm, 1pm – 4pm and 5pm – 8pm every day until the beginning of September. **The evening hours end the third week in August.
